LAURA REZNEK
THE SEWING ROOM
INDEPENDENT

Laura Reznek moved from her native British Columbia to Britain, but judging by her latest album The Sewing Room, that didn’t seem to have made much influence on her sticking to her best musical qualities – her singer-songwriter roots and excellent storytelling. Both are in full form here, including her multi-instrumental and production skills.
All those elements make for some brilliant listening experience, with her personal lyrics never turning into mundane or ‘navel gazing,’ as some would say. Reznek has a very good knack for picking elements from various musical genres and bringing them in to suit her musical needs without making any missteps that would jar the listener’s ears, something a legend like Nick Drake, somebody who seems to have had a bit of influence on Reznek was able to do, and that she does throughout this excellent album.
