FRED ABONG
BLINDNESS
MOOCHIN’ ABOUT RECORDS
To those who follow Spill Magazine more closely, the name of Fred Abong might be familiar, and even more so, if they are fans of Throwing Muses and Belly, as Abong played bass for both bands back in the 80s.
These days, Abong resides in New Orleans, has a PhD in humanities, is a practicing astrologer, and is more into a modern sort of crooning, something that has hefty doses of dream pop and quite a few deep mellow elements that suit his voice.
That is exactly where Blindness, his latest, is musically located, in the deep waters of thought and visions embedded over a multitude of varying sounds suited for late night thoughts or anything else you do late at night.
