A CHAPTER CALLED CHILDREN OF BODOM: THE FINAL SHOW IN HELSINKI ICE HALL 2019
SPINEFARM RECORDS

Children of Bodom have transformed their final show in Helsinki from 2019 into an album. They’ve appropriately called it A Chapter Called Children of Bodom. For fans this was a great way to honor the band’s legacy since many are still mourning the loss of the great frontman Alexi Laiho, who passed away unexpectedly in 2020.

The sound quality of this recording is excellent, you can hear each band member coming through clearly. Each member complements each other exceptionally well throughout this explosive set. Laiho’s distinctive vocals and remarkable guitar skills are on point throughout, as usual.

They open with their 2018 track “Under the Grass and Clover” and continue for an incredible 18 songs including “Shovel Knockout” and “Angels Don’t Kill”, which begins with an audio clip from American Psycho. They wrap it up with “Downfall” from back in 1999.

Overall, the set list from the show is an exceptional representation of their 18-year legacy, almost as if they somehow knew that would be their last show.

This album is a fantastic close to the legacy and the chapter that is Children of Bodom.

About the Author
Melinda Welsh
Melinda is a music enthusiast from the US who grew up on vinyl in the 70s and 80s. She's a lover of all genres, but rock/metal runs through her veins. Music is always in the background and in her head. Unfortunately, she has to have a "regular 8-5" job since "Professional Concert Go-er" doesn't pay the bills. Her bliss would be to follow more musicians and bands than "People she may know" on social media. Her ultimate long term goal is to be the old lady just enjoying the show down in front at the barricades at live shows. Her favorite quote is "Where words fail, music speaks".
