There are a number of singer songwriters out there that might not have the wide exposure they deserve but do have a staunch core of fans that keep them going for fame or bust, and in most cases, there are some very good reasons why they deserve a chance for even wider respect.

Case in point – Angelo de Augustine, who is just releasing his new album Angel in Plainclothes. De Augustine’s initial album Tomb (2019) was the one that built him a set of followers, and even more so, A Beginner’s Mind, his collaborative album with Sufjan Stevens.

Unfortunately, de Augustine was hospitalized in 2022 with an undiagnosed illness, something that can often be a complete career breaker. Yet de Augustine persevered and the result was this, his fifth album, where his penchant for intricate melodies, a cross between his collaborator Sufjan Stevens and late Elliot Smith, and a keen sense of a great melody and substantial lyrics.

It just gives all the reasons for his staunch following and ever more reasons for his following to grow further.
