For many listeners it might seem a somewhat easy thing to navigate the currently widening field of singer songwriter pop. All you have to do is come up with some good melodies, engage a stellar producer/arranger and have good vocal capabilities to carry the tune. Oh, a modicum of talent should come in handy.
Is that all you need? Of course, you surely need all of the above, but all of the above as a package are quite hard to find and even then, things are never that simple.
Well, judging by Mnemonics, her latest album, alt-folk/indie-pop artist, Amy Jay has all parts of that needed package – some good to excellent songwriting (so the talent is there), vocals to support it and has engaged high quality support and producing/arranging capabilities to come up with music that can attract the current folk pop audience and still have some substance within. Those thousands (or even more) streaming clicks should definitely come.
