MOOD TAEG – EXOPHORA
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE ALBUM PREMIERE
Today we drop as an exclusive premiere, the advance full album stream of Exophora the debut album by Mood Taeg.
Mood Taeg is a musical project split between Düsseldorf and Shanghai. The band is part of a wider ‘Mood Taeg Kollektiv’ including musicians, graffiti artists, DJs, photographers, painters and video artists. Lover of the classic German experimental sound from the 1970’s would almost certainly label the musical style of Mood Taeg as krautrock, and this album reflects an unashamed love of the motorik krautrock sound. If you are a fan of Neu!, Can or Kraftwerk, or more contemporary acts such as Stereolab, the KVB or Fujiya and Miyagi, then you are sure to love this record.
Exophora is a thrilling album of extended metronomic compositions that are both indebted to their influences and crushingly contemporary at the same time. As well as being unapologetically krautrock, the band are unashamedly ‘art-rock’. When we asked them about this, they responded cryptically “the form doesn’t dictate the art; the art dictates the form”.
The album is released digitally this Friday 22nd May on all major digital platforms. A blue vinyl LP will follow, released on 26th June and is available to pre-order from the Happy Robots Bandcamp. Until then, you can stream the album right here.
