Polaris Reveals The 2015 Polaris Music Prize Short List

The Polaris Music Prize 2015 Short List was revealed at The Carlu Hotel in Toronto on July 16th.

After a few opening remarks by Polaris Founder and Executive Director, Steve Jordan, the microphone was turned over to Fred Penner, who will be host of the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Gala in September.

Here are the nominees to the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Short List:

Alvvays – Alvvays
Badbadnotgood with Ghostface Killah — Sour Soul
Braids — Deep In The Iris
Buffy Sainte-Marie — Power in the Blood
Caribou — Our Love
Drake — If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
Jennifer Castle — Pink City
The New Pornographers — Brill Bruisers
Tobias Jesso Jr. — Goon
Viet Cong — Viet Cong

The Short List will now be handed over to The Grand Jury, who will deliberate between now and September 21st to determine the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Winner. The winner will be announced at The Polaris Music Prize Gala which will be held that evening at The Carlu Hotel. The winning artist will be the recipient of a prize of $50,000.

Pay close attention to this list. You are sure to be hearing a lot more from these artists in the weeks to come. Care to take a guess as to who this year’s winner will be?
