GO PUBLIC – “DREAM OVER”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
Atlanta, Georgia, is a beast of a town with deep traffic congestion, sprawling neighborhoods, tons of concrete radiating the southern heat and wet blanket of humidity that raises the tension daily. From this tension and heat comes Go Public, a mutant disco post-punk band that absorbs it all and pushes it back out with one jagged danceable song after another. Their debut album You Are Traffic comes out on the long-running label HHBTM Records on September 18th. The band are sharing their third single “Dream Over” with Spill Magazine for this exclusive debut. “Dream Over” is a one of the darker songs on the album with this driving, fuzzed out, dirty bassline that has a bit of Killing Joke in its veins, the guitars recalling late Magazine / Siouxsie & the Banshees / PIL guitarist John McGeogh in tone and sheer intensity like a spiderweb made of razorblades, backed with human metronome drumming of Joy Division and a vocal that is sing-talked until the songs builds and breaks and the desperation to be heard and seen fades back into the darkness. “Dream Over” is a song that lives in the shadows cast under the cold LED lights that cover the city. Go Public know the future is totally doomed, so you might as well dance.
