NEON BLOOM – “TAKE”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Neon Bloom steps into their next chapter and announces their forthcoming debut full-length album Begin Here out August 15 with the release of their emotionally charged new single and music video “Take”. One of the band’s most vulnerable and personal songs, “Take” was written over a decade ago by vocalist Jen Simpson and her ex-husband over a 24-hour period as she was experiencing an emotionally taxing health scare. Later, the song was adopted in Neon Bloom repertoire and became a live favourite with its raw and cathartic sound. The song’s emotional core is brought to life through a powerful and personal music video co-directed by Jen and bandmate Fred Yurichuk. Marking Jen’s directorial debut and rooted in Jen’s own life, the video traces a harrowing chapter marked by her diagnosis with adult-onset epilepsy, followed by the demise of her marriage, and the disorienting loss of stability, housing, and medical clarity. More than an autobiographical visual accompaniment, the video offers a portrait of survival and resilience following Jen’s rise from the ashes into a renewed and fulfilling life amidst the daily reality of disability.
