Daron Malakian is one of the most recognizable names in hard rock and metal, most known for his work in the iconic band System Of A Down, which has given us some of the most memorable songs of the 2000s, including “Chop Suey!”, “Lonely Day”, and “Toxicity”. Under the moniker Daron Malakian And Scars On Broadway, he has also released multiple records. Addicted To The Violence is the third full-length album from Scars On Broadway. Just like previous Scars On Broadway records, Addicted To The Violence is a spectacular addition to his impressive career.

Addicted To The Violence is filled with explosively hard-rocking tunes that deserve to be played as loud as possible. “Killing Spree” opens the record with a bang, as the rapidly turbulent guitars, fast tempo, Malakian’s wild vocals, and resounding make for a thrilling time. The politically charged “Satan Hussein” is a blisteringly booming, hardcore track with thunderous guitar shredding, fierce drumming, punchy basslines, a super catchy chorus, and an aggressively badass energy. Additionally, Malakian’s vocal delivery is intoxicating. “Imposter” will have audiences chaotically headbanging, intensely moshing, and screaming along at concerts. It is full of raw energy, has an instantly memorable chorus, and features an exhilarating guitar solo. “The Shame Game” incorporates some electronic textures into the mix with the guitar riffs, resulting in a darkly melancholic sound and sinisterly gloomy atmosphere. Another highlight of the track is Malakian’s vocal performance, which is among the best of his career. Lastly, the noisy and ferocious “Your Lives Burn” makes the best of its short runtime, delivering 110% full-throttle energy throughout.

Addicted To The Violence has some fascinating slow-tempo songs as well. “You Destroy You” has a way different vibe than the rest of the tracks from the record. The mandolin melody in this song is truly gorgeous. Alternatively, the title track, although it has its share of heavy moments, is, for the most part, quite delicate and tender.

Overall, metalheads and System Of A Down fanatics will love Addicted To The Violence.
