Today’s punk scene is alive with energy, and 504 Plan’s debut LP, To Think, Or Not To Think, is no exception—sharp vocals and rapid instrumentals, it’s crisp, not missing a beat. Seventeen minutes from start to finish… nice. The content does not grab me, but we are all thirsty for punk tunes and quirky instrumentals.

“Bleeding Bureaucracy” annoyed me at first. I’m all for a man discussing gender equality—let’s give him a round of applause! 504 Plan shakes a fist at patriarchal norms. When it comes to the costs of tampons and pads versus condoms, I can’t help but wonder if we’re missing the point here. I mean, condoms are just as important to women as they are to men, but that’s not the point. It’s the bureaucracy dictating the haves and the have-nots. Nice.

What stands out in punk music now are genuine, relatable experiences. I think this album captures that. I’d be keen for more; I enjoyed the tempo but would embrace more complexity
