JONI VOID
EVERY LIFE IS A LIGHT
CONSTELLATION RECORDS

Constellation Records never go for something ordinary, so it is no surprise that they picked up on somebody who has no fear of experimenting, like Montreal’s Joni Void and their latest album Every Life Is A Light.
Void has a number of musical personas or monikers and has music that fits each separately but always with a personal thread collecting them altogether. You could probably make quite an effective collage out of all previous Void releases, and maybe that was a subconscious idea they had in their mind when they wrote and recorded this album, as Every Life Is A Light plays like a very intricate collage that ranges from subdued (electronic) bedroom pop to neo-classical ambient, trip hop, and whatever else came up to Void’s mind at the moment when they were structuring the music here.
When you construct your music in such a manner there is a distinct possibility that at least in parts it will sound incongruous, but Void doesn’t come up with any such hiccups here, making this album a very intriguing listen.
