SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: ADELINE HOTEL – WHODUNNIT

Adeline Hotel

ADELINE HOTEL
WHODUNNIT
RUINATION RECORDS

When artists pick up monikers, these may be telling signs, and yet, they may not be. Brooklyn’s Dan Knishkowy goes under one – Adeline Hotel, and based on his latest album Whodunnit, that moniker can be both telling and not.

On one hand, there is an actual hotel (and a wellness centre and a spa) under that name, and you might add here that the official Elliott Smith site is named Sweet Adeline. And yes, Knishkowy’s music has some therapeutic healing effects and has a sense of kinship with what the late great Elliott Smith was creating.

On the other hand, Knishkowy has a distinct, individual songwriting and performing style that sets him apart from what is considered the ‘usual’ singer/songwriter fare, which he combines with equally distinct lyrics where the music he creates makes a fitting foil, where two epithets might do the trick – subtle and sublime.

SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: ADELINE HOTEL – WATCH THE SUNFLOWERS

by Ljubinko Zivkovic on October 24, 2025
ADELINE HOTEL WATCH THE SUNFLOWERS RUINATION RECORDS Come to think of it, you could easily classify the music of Dan Knishkowy and Adeline Hotel as autumnal. After all, if you look at the band’s back catalogue, the last five albums, [...]
