SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: LAMB OF GOD – ASHES OF THE WAKE (20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION)

Lamb Of God

LAMB OF GOD
ASHES OF THE WAKE (20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION)
EPIC RECORDS/LEGACY RECORDINGS

Lamb Of God is throwing a 20th Anniversary party for Ashes Of The Wake, and everyone’s invited! This deluxe edition is like a rock ‘n’ roll makeover, featuring fresh mixes by Health, Justin K Broadrick, and the heavy hitters Kublai Khan TX and Malevolence. Get ready to headbang like it’s 2004!

The charm of the Ashes Of The Wake reissue’s design lies in its seamless fusion of old-school and contemporary elements—an explosion of awesomeness that will snag your admiration like Randy Blythe snags the spotlight! Indeed, this unique blend distinguishes the reissue, setting it apart as a noteworthy release. Regarding re-engineered, it holds its own impressively against an album considered a fundamental pillar of the metal genre. It does so with remarkable finesse.

Blythe comments, ‘Old songs are a snapshot of where we were as a band at that time, for better or worse.’ The lure in by guest vocalist Blythe’s perspective is manipulated, giving it something extra. However, the original appeal, in my opinion, still wins out, and for a band like Lamb of God, I don’t think you can argue with perfection; it is a fun twist.  What is neat about this album is the remixes, such as “Omerta”. I adored this remix; maybe it’s the metal and industrial all blended to perfection.

About the Author
Victoria Love-Rainbow
I am an avid connoisseur of music experiences but never had the courage to share them until now. My inspiration comes from the '90s alternative and punk rock music I grew up listening to. Bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, Eve 6 and Everclear shaped my worldview and taste in music. I want to capture some of their energy and spirit in my stories. Thanks for checking out my bio and my work!
