With All Heartbeat, her third album, Kashika Kollaikal, aka Flung has just confirmed that she is currently one of the more inventive artists using electronic music elements in their music. She already showed us with her previous two efforts Shaky But My Hair Is Grown (2020) and Apricot Angel (2022). The story doesn’t just end there—her use of intricate rhythmic patterns, complex melody structures, her love of Brazilian music (particularly Milton Nascimento) and you’ve got an intricate set of songs that go in all directions without losing either their structure or purpose, essentially being so easy to listen to even with so much complexity present.

It probably has a lot to do with Kollaikal’s songwriting and instrumental capabilities, and her emotional involvement with her music, which just gives it that essential substance it needs.
