SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: CREATION REBEL – HIGH ABOVE HARLESDEN 1978-2023

CREATION REBEL
HIGH ABOVE HARLESDEN 1978-2023
ON-U SOUND

After being quiet for a while, dub innovators Creation Rebel returned last year with a new set of dub delicacies, again under the helm of Adrian Sherwood and his On-U-Sound titled Hostile Environment.

Maybe the interest was higher than was initially expected, but it was surely welcome, and the rejuvenated trio and Sherwood have decided to treat the fans and those listeners who wanted to know more with a full reissue set of Creation Rebel’s albums under a joint title High Above Harlesden 1978-2023.

Originally set up as a studio band, they transformed into a European touring band for the late reggae legend Prince Far I, only to cease activity as a band after their bass player Lizard Logan was imprisoned and Prince Far I was murdered, only to revive themselves recently.

The five-album set here is just a comprehensive reminder of the excellence that Creation Rebel and Sherwood created throughout their career, with the late 70s and early 80s material sounding as vibrant and fresh as when they were initially released.
