SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BOY WITH APPLE – ATTACHMENT

Boy With Apple

BOY WITH APPLE
ATTACHMENT
VÅRØ RECORDS

Swedish band Boy With Apple was formed in 2019 and released their first EP, Walk In The Park, in 2020. Today, their debut album, Attachment, is being released, and it contains several captivating atmospheric tracks.

Boy With Apple combines dream pop and shoegaze to create hypnotically beautiful atmospheres that are catchy and full of emotion with the gentle and soothing nature of “My Girl”, the enchanting and haunting soundscape of “Rosemary’s Baby”, and the ethereal vocals and instrumentation of “Valentine”, which are but a few highlights. If you love shoegaze or dream pop with gorgeous atmospheres, these three songs need to be added to your playlist.

However, tracks like “GBG Hills” and “Strawberry Boy” had the potential to be as good as the aforementioned tracks but ultimately come off as underwhelming, and there is a dip in quality. They are not terrible tracks, though, as the former has some lovely vocals, and the latter has groovy guitar work.

“Good For You” is the best track on the record. The vocals and instrumentation are engrossing and bound to make the listener get lost in the music. It also has brutally honest lyrics about romantic love and self-love that cut deep, with the lines: “How can I be good for you /When I’m not even good for me” standing out the most.

Attachment is a promising debut album from Boy With Apple.
