FAIR VISIONS – “I WANT YOU, BABE”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
Ryan Work, Fair Visions, is a songwriter and musician from Franklin, Tennessee currently based in Queens, New York. The project has independently released two six-track EPs, whereas Modern Kids (2021) form the second half of a statement begun with the debut A Way Out (2020). Their upcoming LP, Quite an End, will be released May 7th, 2024.
On Quite an End, Work brings a live arrangement in place of sequencers for their debut LP of poignant, shimmering off-the-wall indie rock. The album finds Fair Visions working alongside a larger cast of friends and collaborators with producer Abe Seiferth (Nation of Language, LCD). Featuring Tim Lappin (Casual Male) on bass, Chris Egan and Jesse Lewis on drums, Beck Zegans (Goo!), Syd Matisse and Leah Lavigne (Ok Cowgirl) filling out background vocals, with contributions from local legends Miles Hewitt and John Roland Miller. Quite an End was recorded in the Summer of 2021 at Transmitter Park Studios and was mastered by Joe Lambert.
“I Want You, Babe” was written in 2016 in Tennessee after graduating college and leaving the city for home, about a relationship left behind. It’s rocker of a love song with a real sing-y chorus and big hook. It’s also a bridge from the drum machine driven EP’s to the new live rhythm section of the album. In my mind it’s kind of the quintessential fv track, after eight years it’s exciting and a relief to have out there.
