THE ROYAL OUI – “WILDFLOWERS”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
The Royal Oui premieres cover of “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty from Lovelore EP.
Lovelore, the new EP by The Royal Oui, arrives at a meaningful moment for the duo, which is comprised of married singer/songwriters Adrienne Pierce and Ari Rosenschein. February 11th marks the tenth anniversary of its acclaimed debut, an album filled with original songs about love and connection.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Lovelore collects The Royal Oui’s covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., The Lemonheads, and Bruce Cockburn, alongside unreleased versions of Juice Newton’s pop country classic “Queen of Hearts” and Tom Petty’s yearning “Wildflowers,” which premieres at Spill Magazine.
“A good song transcends style, and a good love song stands outside of time,” the pair affirms. Featuring Rosenschein’s earthy delivery, Pierce’s spectral harmonies, and layers of orchestration, their take on “Wildflowers” is quintessentially The Royal Oui.
ARTIST QUOTE
“Very few love songs contain lines like, ‘Run away, go find another.’ The story goes that Petty pressed record, ad-libbed all the lyrics to ‘Wildflowers’ in three minutes, and didn’t change a word afterward. There is something calming and a little mysterious about this song that lets us know we all belong somewhere we feel free.”
