Founded in 1980 by JoJo Bennett and Fergus Hambleton in Toronto, The Sattalites emerged from the vibrant music school scene on Eglinton Avenue, initially teaching reggae, jazz, and pop. Evolving from a student ensemble, they swiftly transitioned into professional musicians during the 80s Queen Street heyday, captivating audiences across North America with their electrifying live performances.
Throughout the years, The Sattalites have garnered widespread acclaim, releasing six albums and clinching two Juno Awards, solidifying their imprint on the Canadian music scene.Β The unfortunate passing of JoJo Bennett in 2021 marked the end of an era, but his spirit lives on through the band’s undying commitment to delivering exceptional reggae experiences.
