It has been 10 years now since French electro-pop masters Daft Punk released their seminal album Random Access Memories. As time went by, it became quite obvious that the album really earned that seminal tag, making it undoubtedly one of the classics of the genre, as well as one of the classics of pop music in general.

To mark the anniversary, the duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, decided to go a bit of a different route from the usual reissue concept, with or without extra tracks, which they already did earlier this year anyway. They remixed the album without drums or drum machines, to pinpoint the melody lines and song structures.

Such a concept can be a bit dangerous because it can expose any possible gaps, faults, or wrong turns. It is just the original melodies and harmonies and song structures, and it turns out that there are no faults or wrong turns or bad melody lines, just pure electro-pop genius, or more precisely, pop genius at work, with or without drums.
