Natalie Chami, who works under the moniker of TALsounds ,refers to herself as “a proud Canadian-born Lebanese American” a description that is something for the listeners to uncover through her work so far, particularly on her latest album, Shift.

Chami is obviously one of the champions of improvised, instantaneous musical concepts, that on Shift, do exactly that, shift from ambient spaces to dream pop and back.

With Chami’s music, particularly here, it is all mood and atmosphere, and her detailed electronics and at moments operatic (but hushed) vocals do exactly that —  create moods and atmospheres that can submerge listeners underwater or take them up into the clouds in a matter of seconds.

Throughout this process, Chami actually doesn’t take a single misstep, it all seems to be within her intuition.
