You really have to be truly versed in music to be able to come up with an album that is basically all soft, funky, jazzy soul. Those elongated notes and spaces have to really work to have their effect and you truly have to have a feel for it.

And Swiss producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer Kevin Wettstein, aka Melodiesinfonie, surely does that on Softboi, his latest album.

Taking cues from spaced soul and jazz from giants like Lonnie Liston Smith and Pharoah Sanders, Wettstein gets help from Parisian singer-songwriter and musician Claudi Isaki, Swiss-German singer OG Florin and Pedro Mizutani from Rio de Janeiro, to come up with some excellent late-night vibes, perfectly suited for all late-night activities, whatever they might be.

As he explains, “To be soft is to be open to vulnerability. It takes courage to peel back the layers we often hide behind and reveal our true selves to others. Softness allows us to let go of our shields and masks, inviting authentic connections and fostering deep relationships. It means being unafraid to share our emotions, fears, and dreams, knowing that vulnerability is the birthplace of intimacy and growth.”
