SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: MATT MAYS – FROM BURNSIDE WITH LOVE

Lighters up for Matt Mays!

The Nova Scotia-based folk rocker continues to quietly evolve his sound with his ninth album: From Burnside With Love.

The Juno Award-winner strips down his music in this intimate, live recording. His “no frills” approach to this recording allows his raw talent and storytelling ability to shine through, creating an almost palpable connection with his audience.

Mays gives his fans what fans love — the hits — as he takes the listener on a journey through his songs of the past and present. “So Distant” and “City of Lakes” are brought to life again by a stomping steel pedal, harmonicas, and sensational banjo riffs.

Fans of Mays’ early work as a part of Matt Mays & El Torpedo will also be pleased to see “The Plan” and “On the Hood” as a part this release. Also included is the smash hit “Cocaine Cowgirl” for which Matt Mays & El Torpedo received the award for “Single Of The Year” at the East Coast Music Awards in 2005.

Mays continues to show unwavering consistency in the dedication to his craft and evolution of his sound. His passion, talent, and innovative ear have allowed him to provide fans with the perfect blend of past hits with a fresh take.

As Mays continues to boldly explore his sound with From Burnside with Love, it is evident that he has not forgotten the songs, and the stories that got him to where he is today.
