SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: TÉLÉPOPMUSIK – EVERYBODY BREAKS THE LINE

Télépopmusik

Télépopmusik
Everybody Breaks The Line
Warm Music

So, you think electro pop music has nothing substantial to offer? Have you forgotten LCD Soundsystem, or any of the ‘thinking’ French electro bands, like Télépopmusik for example?

The duo of 2Square and Antipop hasn’t come up with an album recently, but Everybody Breaks the Line, their latest, can certainly remind you that they operate in a genre that has something more to offer than just good music to dance to. The album cover should be indicative enough.

Creating great music to dance to is no mean feat, and Télépopmusik confirm one more time that they can do that with ease, and at same time are able to create music that you can also sit down, enjoy, and even think about. You can count the number of artists that can do that on the fingers on your hands.

You don’t have to go much further here than the opener “Dreams”, “Ghost of Love”, or the trip-hoppish “Wait for Me”. The latter is for the situations where you have to cool a bit from all that dancing.

All things considered, on Everybody Breaks the Line Télépopmusik have again done what they have been doing best for 20 years on the scene – create music that you can dance to and think about at the same time.
