Elephant Stone has been around for almost a decade, and with the youthful originality of their sound, it’s often easy forget that. With such a vast and genius grasp at genre-bending psychedelic and Eastern elements, the band is no stranger to creating beautifully rich psyche soundscapes without abandoning their rock and pop styled origins. This is especially true with their latest release Hollow.

From the drop, we are drenched in glorious cinematic instrumental vibes, twinkling acoustic guitars, and denuded percussive bliss with “Hollow World”. A fantastic start to the album and a brilliant open window to the sounds we will get to experience on this musical journey, this only scratches the surface of the different movements that take place in Hollow. 

Other sweet eastern and rock delights such as “The Court and Jury” and “Land of the Dead” offer a sound that is unapologetically Elephant Stone. Boldly introducing a fusion of international musical sitar elements and gritty rock while still providing their vision of  psychedelic and pop record , this is the perfect mixture for letting our audio senses dive into something unique before coming back to the surface with “Keep the Light Alive”.

Hollow has a large sound where within its seams lies a truly diverse and beautifully crafted record. From start to finish there is not one experience that is worthy of a skip or signs of boredom. Though Elephant Stone is not your typical sound of modern rock bands of today, it is ultimately what makes them shine a bit more from the rest. It is clear that this band never really wants to contract with the normal sounds of rock genre, and for Elephant Stone this seems to have worked splendidly for them over the years.
