SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: THEM GUNS – FROM THE SHADOWS

Them Guns

Them Guns
From The Shadows
TLG/Ingrooves

How would you describe the sound of the Los Angeles quartet Them Guns? Rock synth perhaps? While that may discourage some people right there, the mix of rock ‘n’ roll, synth and industrial hints just . . .  well, it just works.

From the Shadows brings 12 tracks that carry ingredients of ‘80s new wave, goth, rock ‘n’ roll and even pop, that all mix well for a satisfying experience.

First track “Everybody Bleeds” grabs your attention with the opening bass riff and vocals of Navarone Garibald, and keeps it. Heck, you just might find yourself singing along. It wouldn’t be surprising with other tracks on the album as well.

Tracks such as “Devil’s Eye” and “Hand me Your Heart”, while melancholy vocal-wise, still incorporate enough rock to avoid becoming overly dreary.

Them Guns manage to fuse various genres to create a well-balanced album. It’s worth a listen, you may be pleasantly surprised.

About the Author
Trista Whitman
Trista’s a music addict who’s taste in music spans over numerous genres. She enjoys playing her bass guitar, but honestly she’s not very good at it. So she goes to concerts and watches real musicians who are far more talented than her. You’ll find her there in the front row, because, well, she’s short and wouldn’t be able to see the stage very well otherwise, and because she strives to get the perfect photo to capture the experience.
