West Coast indie rock outfit The Neighbourhood, who brought you such hits as “Sweater Weather” and “Daddy Issues,” are back with an EP of five dark electropop tracks. The band, who originally established themselves as an alternative force to be reckoned with, have been testing the confines of genre for the last few years as they experiment with hip hop beats and dynamic rap features. Their latest release, Ever Changing, is the culmination of this transformation – a mix-tape style collection of dreamy songs offering bars by some underground rap favorites.

In true mix-tape fashion, the features are the most exciting parts of this release. Guest appearances by artists like Ghostface Killah and Denzel Curry bring a much-needed edge to The Neighbourhood’s famous hazy pop licks. The lethal thematic concoction of idealism and apathy on this EP make it perfect for a smoky house party, but hopefully this record will also introduce longtime fans of the band to a whole world of hip hop that they might have never investigated otherwise.
