History drives art from opening to close, from start to finish with soothing Rock juxtapositions. Chicago-based quartet California Wives bring this enigmatic quality to their 2012 debut Art History, a place where stories resonate. No matter the speed, fast or slow, the album captivates with guitar-led songs as tempos cool – like in “Photolights” and “Tokyo” where peerless rainbows strike through a peculiar sky while “Blood Red Youth,” “Twenty Three” and “Marianne” usher in nostalgia.

If you wish to learn more about California Wives, the best place to start is in the confines of their art. Music speaks in various ways, for that is how it should be. No opinion or over expressive narrator should contaminate the proceedings.
