TREVOR FINLAY – “(NO) TIME TO PANIC”
INDEPENDENT
Canadian-born, Nashville-based blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Trevor Finlay is set to release his new single, “(No) Time to Panic,” on October 30, 2026. Blending gritty blues-rock guitar, experimental production, and emotionally driven songwriting, the track explores anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and the overwhelming feeling of a racing mind.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, Finlay has shared stages with music legends including Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, James Brown, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Chris Isaak, and Charlie Daniels. He also spent eight years touring with pop icon Tiffany as her guitarist and occasional musical director.
Written entirely by Finlay and produced by Michael Klooster, “(No) Time to Panic” transforms an internal struggle into a dynamic musical experience. A ticking-clock-inspired snare rhythm mirrors the urgency of anxious thoughts, while the song’s central phrase plays with the tension between reassurance and panic. An experimental, theremin-inspired sound layered over the guitar solo adds another dimension to the track’s distinctive sonic landscape.
The release marks an exciting new chapter for Finlay as he prepares for his seventh studio album, continuing to push the boundaries of his signature blues-rock sound.
ARTIST QUOTE
“The idea for this came from anxiety and intrusive thoughts. When the snare comes in, it resembles a ticking clock. The phrase ‘no time to panic,’ the ‘no’ struggles to be heard over the much louder ‘time to panic,’ and the message almost changes to mean the opposite. It’s a bit of an insight as to how my mind works sometimes.”
“One of my favorite things about working with Michael Klooster is his openness and fearlessness about crazy sonic experimentation. Swooping in just over top of the guitar solo is him playing something theremin-inspired, adding a really interesting aesthetic that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.”
