It has now become a sort of tradition for artists from Sweden to come up with some high-quality to excellent power pop and pop rock. Is it something in the water, or something else, makes no difference. We are regularly treated with the pop-oriented sounds that are oh so easy on the ear.

Count in former frontman of power poppers The Merrymakers David Myhr in, who has just come up with his third solo album, Everything Is All About You. Now, The Merrymakers were able to make quite a name all around with their take on power pop, but here, Myhr takes a bit of a different approach.

That difference is that Myhr leaves a lot of that power element in the shadows and concentrates more on the pop side of things, and that is all that quality pop can offer. While in power pop the dominance of guitars can sometimes cover up songwriting minuses, concentrating on all thing pop doesn’t give you that space. Luckily, Myhr’s ability to come up with some exquisite melodies and arrangements here don’t need any coverups – it is unabashed pop of highest quality.
