No matter what anybody says, creating well crafted (or better) pop is an art in itself, particularly if you are able to abide by the rules and regulations, or more simply put, formulas that good, great or excellent pop demands, as well as which pop elements you bring into such a formula.

Tokyo Tea Room come from the English seaside town of Margate, which might be the reason Daniel James Elliott, this band’s guiding light decided to make his pop mix out of sophisticated soul, smooth jazzy vibes, and what they now dub as yacht rock, lead by the vocals of Beth Dunn, who has a sound not too unsimilar to Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell.

That sound has done wonders for  Tokyo Tea Room  so far, with Spotify’s 1.3 million monthly listeners speaking for itself. This just might be a telling sign of how well the band’s latest album Feel Forever will do. And if you are not so well off to own a yacht and play this album, even a moderately priced car stereo system will do just fine.
