You can always count on brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario of The Lemon Twigs to deliver excellently crafted pop and rock gems with a fresh spin. They have become known for their amazing ability to precisely capture a wide range of styles from the ‘60s and ‘70s, including progressive pop, glam rock, jangle pop, power pop, and baroque pop. The Lemon Twigs’ newest album, Look For Your Mind!, is quite different from any of their other records. Previously, the two brothers handled everything in the studio themselves. For this album, they included live members Reza Martin and Danny Ayala, as well as Eva Chambers of the band Tchotchke, in the studio.

Although Look For Your Mind! is not The Lemon Twigs best album, there are still plenty of terrific songs that show their incredible musicianship. The title track is a dynamite rock song and very Beatlesque, but with just enough twists to feel like its own thing rather than just a homage. Packed with thrilling guitar riffs, “Bring You Down” is an entertaining and lively dose of surf-rock. The heartwarmingly sweet power pop tune “I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You” is an absolute masterpiece, featuring standout elements such as the unforgettable chorus, astonishing vocal harmonies (among the best of the year), and dazzlingly mellow energy. This tune will live in your head for a long time. Likewise, “Nothin’ But You” also features some exquisite vocal harmonies, as well as top-notch songwriting and irresistibly charming hooks. “2 or 3” has some fabulous production, a hypnotically vibrant melody, and some outstanding utilization of the flute. Fans of The Beach Boys will undeniably love this song. Lastly, “Your True Enemy” is another highlight from the album. The psychedelic influences, wild outro, cool echoey vocal effects, intriguing soundscape, and captivating production choices make the song highly memorable.

Overall, Look For Your Mind! is another winning effort from The Lemon Twigs, solidifying their status as one of the best bands keeping the sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s alive.
