“‘CURBSTOMP’ is a song that takes inspiration from places we haven’t necessarily tapped into yet. I think we’re constantly trying to create out of our comfort zone and this definitely differs from what we’ve been putting out. I think it’s important we put out songs like this as a reminder that we have bigger aspirations for our sound. I think sometimes that phrase “refuse to be put into a box” can be overused but it takes songs like this to remind people we mean it. For me at least, at its core it’s a song that talks about violence — what violence is, who perpetuates it, the dynamics of it, etc. I think it’s important to understand that violence comes in many forms. I also see it as a warning that if we do not take the time to understand it and resist it, we eventually fall victim to it.”
