After pioneering Montreal techno’s scene for decades and releasing his first solo record Sexor 20 years ago, Tiga is back with his sixth record, Hotlife, featuring collaborators Boyz Noize, Matthew Dear, Fcukers, MRD, Gestolen Cirkel, Paranoid London, and Maara. The record still stays fresh to Tiga’s techno roots cementing proof that wizards can still cast spells.

Hotlife begins with the alliteration track in “Hot Wife” featuring longtime friend and producer Boyz Noize, which opens to a repetitive techno drum beat and booming vocals alluding to Tiga’s wife as an inspiration and a limelight throughout his life and career. The track also brings listeners back to the early 2000s club culture era oozing braggadocio swag.

“High Rollers” feels like the soundtrack to the racing video game Need For Speed as an edgy acid-techno track featuring synthesizers for a badass vibe. “IAMWHATIAM” featuring MRD goes full blast on techno and cranks the confidence levels to 100 per cent. “Silk Scarf” featuring Fcukers is an amalgamation of techno and funk reminiscing a runway fashion show filled with glitz and glamour.

“I Am Your Detroit Sunrise” is the standout track in the record. The seven-minute track features a cacophony of digital flute instrumentation and techno beats making it the ballsiest and trippy listening experience that’s best suited for dancing in the park as the sun sets.

“Ecstasy Surrounds Me” is the final track of the album. Opting for ‘80s synth-pop atmosphere and peak club banger with a narrative touch of how music has shaped Tiga’s life and shaping the legacy of the artist.

Tiga’s Hotlife is part club banger track and part semi-autobiographical of his artist journey featuring club thumping bangers where the immaculate vibes are dripping with swag to a T. It is worth recommended and worth listening to for those crave the nightlife.
