NYRE – “ME ON MY MIND”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Toronto dark-pop artist NYRE has released the official music video for “Me On My Mind,” directed by Vincent Miller. .
“Me On My Mind” arrived on March 20 as the lead single of NYRE’s upcoming EP. Written by NYRE (Eryn Young) alongside songwriter Sarah Boulton (AARYS) and producer Mike Schlosser, the track runs 2:11 of locked-in electro-pop momentum—glossy synths, a pulse-driven groove, and lyrics that land with the energy of someone who has already moved on.
NYRE wrote the song from a specific place: she’d been making herself smaller to keep someone else comfortable. The track doesn’t linger there. It opens already past it — verse one is literally a fit check: platinum bleach, LV sneakers, gelly nails. The ex gets mentioned mainly so NYRE can note how well she’s doing without them. “I’m your ex and your crush / Never seen me so lux”. The chorus — “I only got me on my mind / Make it graphic by design / Every second I’m alive / I die for a rush in neon lights / Sipping chaos on the side” — is what it sounds like when someone’s attention has returned to themselves. This is not a heartbreak track.
Directed by Vincent Miller, the visual treatment mirrors that point of view: hazy and cinematic, with NYRE as the unchallenged focal point throughout. The aesthetic pulls from the same neon-lit, high-contrast world the lyrics describe — confident, a little surreal, built around the
feeling of a person fully back inside their own life.
“I realized I don’t need an invite; the party is wherever I am. This video is about spiralling with style. And in the fun, I find the version of myself that had been hiding behind the shadows of others.”— NYRE
A remix by producer Lorenzo Cosi — one half of the production duo SONDR, with credits including The Chainsmokers, ILLENIUM, Lennon Stella, and Steve Aoki — arrives in May.
