CANNONS UNVEIL NEW SINGLE “THESE NIGHTS” WITH OFFICIAL VISUALIZER
COLUMBIA RECORDS/RCA
Alternative/electro-pop band Cannons has released their brand new song and accompanying visualizer titled “These Nights” via RCA Records UK. The track serves as the latest single off the band’s forthcoming album Everything Glows, out Friday, March 27.
With “These Nights,” Cannons fuse a disco-infected groove with shimmering pop sensibility. Anchored by a prominent bassline, sweeping orchestral strings, sharp electric guitar riffs, and layered percussion, the track delivers sonic depth while exploring the overwhelming weight of existence. Lead singer Michelle Joy reflects on the pressure to consistently perform at the highest level and the fear of losing the qualities that make you special as life goes on. Set against a twinkling, star-filled backdrop, the accompanying visualizer beautifully complements the song’s mellow yet immersive soundscape. Dressed in disco-inspired attire, each band member glimmers and sways in and out of the spotlight, visually capturing the track’s luminous energy.
On the track, the band shares: “‘These Nights’ is about the late-night fear that you’re not who you used to be. We pushed ourselves on this one, layering sweeping orchestration with lush guitars and cinematic production so it feels expansive yet intimate. It’s for anyone who’s ever stayed up too late wondering if they’ve lost their thunder. If that feeling is familiar, this one’s for you.”
Everything Glows is a powerful and entrancing fifth album from the beloved band. Written and recorded as lead singer and songwriter, Michelle Joy rebuilt her health, showcasing less the sound of a band returning from a rest, and more a trio of friends reinventing the way they create, collaborate, and sound. The album radiates a sense of camaraderie, of bearing witness to one another through travails and triumphs. The 11 songs of Everything Glows navigate heartbreak and codependence, brokenness and, ultimately, liberation, spotlighting a group that found new ways to move forward and absolute excitement in both the process and its results.
Cannons first gave fans a glimpse of what was to come with the first single of this era, “All I Need,” a dreamy, synth-pop track, released in October. “Starlight,” the band’s most recent glittery and infectious single, continues to give listeners a taste of what’s to come, which features their most unified, creatively fearless work yet.
Cannons will take Everything Glows to the live stage on their upcoming co-headline tour with electronic duo Bob Moses. The North American tour kicks off this March in Phoenix, and will hit major cities including Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, and more.
