SHIV AND THE CARVERS – “DANGER GIRL”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Skate punk group Shiv and the Carvers unveil their enigmatic new single, “Danger Girl,” marking their first release since signing to Twin Fang Records. This track offers an exciting preview of their forthcoming EP, Tell Me You Love Me Again, the first original release featuring Annie Jane Marie of alt/rock band Dilly Dally. The EP will be released on March 14, 2025 with an EP release show slated for the same night at Baby G in Toronto, ON.
Highly influenced by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the single’s official video kicks off with the band getting a strict pep talk by their “hot shot manager” (aka Canadian rock ‘n’ roll icon Bif Naked) about their next big show. The remaining sequence shows the band on a wild escapade across the city hitting up the film’s landmark cameos such as Sonic Boom and Casa Loma. Local punk rock scenesters and collaborators Roach, Burner, Dermabrasion, and Camille Léon play complementary roles in the video. Who gets the girl in the end? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Tell Me You Love Me Again will be available for streaming and on cassette on March 14, 2025 through Twin Fang Records.
ARTIST QUOTE
Speaking of the new single, lead vocalist Shiv Scott shares, “Danger Girl is a queer love song about falling in love with a woman that you know is going to break your heart. The “Danger” is the gamble of getting your heart broken, but knowing that it’s worth every bit of pain. I was very inspired by Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag”, Blink-182’s “Josie”, and other 90s/2000s songs about women who are out of the singer’s league.”
