RISE CARMINE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE “COME IN CLOSER”
COME IN CLOSER EP TO BE RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 12 ON NEW LABEL PAPER BAG RECORDS
Toronto based multi-instrumentalist and psych-rock artist, Liam Colbert, (aka Rise Carmine), confirms the release of his Come In Closer EP set for November 12, via his newly minted deal with Toronto-based Paper Bag Records. In celebration of the news, Rise Carmine shares the title track taken from the EP, “Come In Closer” written for his girlfriend, Maggie, and “about all the ways that we love each other that exist in between or outside of the spoken word. When words fail us or betray the way we are actually feeling we let our bodies do the talking” – alongside an accompanying visualizer. Liam wrote, performed, engineered and mastered the track and directed and edited the visualizer.
Formerly known as Patiohawk, Colbert first made waves with a self-produced album in 2017. He remerged under the Rise Carmine namesake and No Coup For Anyone, a bold debut produced by Grammy-winning heavyweight Dave Schiffman (Weezer, PUP, Vampire Weekend).
The Come In Closer EP, contains 4 tracks that lean heavily into building hypnotic bass lines and grooves that build on each other in intentional layers. “The EP is an exploration of the difference between what is ‘real’ and what is ‘not real'” Liam explains. “Truth and lies, facts and propaganda, real human connection and the ever-increasing reality of artificial intelligence, a healthy flourishing relationship and a relationship of habit, nature and the human-made machines that destroy it. The proofs, figures, charts, diagrams and the perfect silence of the stars.”
Remember that you are going to die. Remember that everything you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Remember that life is just a series of fleeting moments. It begins with a heartbeat and ends when the music stops and the lights go up. But for a short sliver of time we can get lost together in the in-between. Tune it all out and come in closer. See Rise Carmine on select upcoming dates across Eastern and Atlantic Canada starting in September.
