JUNO-NOMINATED ALTERNATIVE INDIE-ROCK DUO SOFTCULT RELEASE NEW SINGLE “NAIVE” | TOUR DATES
EASY LIFE RECORDS
JUNO-nominated sibling duo Softcult, the Ontario-based torchbearers of modern grunge, unveil their new single “Naive”, a hauntingly honest exploration of disillusionment and emotional awakening. Arriving on the heels of their searing shoegaze anthem, “Pill To Swallow” and the announcement that production on their highly anticipated debut full-length album is officially complete, “Naive” is out now via Easy Life Records. Stream it below or HERE.
Speaking about the song, the band explains, “It’s about coming to the painful realization that the person, idea, or reality we trusted and believed in never really existed in the first place. This song is about the moment the scales fall from our eyes after we realize we’ve been romanticising someone or the idea of someone. After this moment we’re no longer able to see them or the world as innocently as we did before.”

SPILL FEATURE: RIGHTEOUS RAGE ON ONE SIDE AND CALMNESS AND GENTLENESS ON THE OTHER – A CONVERSATION WITH MERCEDES ARN-HORN OF SOFTCULT
While details on the forthcoming album remain under wraps, Mercedes (she/her) and Phoenix (they/them) Arn-Horn describe it as a journey towards self-empowerment, a means of tracing the path from trauma to personal rebirth. It’s the culmination of six months of intense, independent work in their home studio; an entirely self-produced project that showcases both their artistry and multi-dimensional talent.
Earlier this year, the band launched their North American headlining tour, using it as a chance to road-test new material in front of live audiences. The second leg of the tour will begin in Buffalo on September 19 and will conclude with a Canadian date in Vancouver on October 16 at The Pearl. Canadian fans can also catch the band this summer in Toronto, where they’ll be opening for Whirr & Nothing at the Danforth Music Hall on July 20.
