DOPE LEMON KICKS OFF NORTH AMERICAN TOUR + SHARES “DERBY RACEWAY” LYRIC VIDEO | KIMOSABÈ OUT NOW
BMG
Dope Lemon recently released his resplendent, golden-hued fourth album Kimosabè – an album of classic songcraft (some of Stone’s best ever) and lush, rolling grooves, road anthems for a psychic journey into the cosmos. Recorded at an old sugarcane farm-turned-studio in the middle of nowhere, the record boasts seamless arrangements, dreamy choruses, and waves of sun-soaked guitars that float effortlessly into the horizon. Along with the new album, Dope Lemon is set to return to North America for an extensive fall tour including stops at Austin City Limits and Desert Daze’s Daze in The City. See tour dates below.
Kimosabè features tracks including the dreamy and anthemic “Miami Baby,” recalling the vibe of a psychedelic-infused summer, bursting with an explosion of sunshine; the album’s title track “Kimosabé,” an effortless offering, complemented charmingly by Stone’s sedative voice; and the warm, euphoric new focus “Derby Raceway,” a paean to easier times, praising the virtues of simple, uncomplicated living. With its chugging guitar groove evoking basic pleasures and easy thrills, it’s a perfect taste of Kimosabè.
“This record is everything that’s me,” notes Dope Lemon. “In the past, the artwork has been anonymous in a way because I was trying to explore these styles, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful – I could sort of slink around in the shadows and wouldn’t have the public make judgement on the person behind it. This record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and I was able to see where I want to be in the future. So, putting myself on the cover just felt right.”
Take a listen to Kimosabé now, and be sure to see Dope Lemon live this fall!
