Royal Canoe’s Today We’re Believers is an eclectic record that has held a special place in the hearts of experimental indie-rock lovers worldwide. Now they can own one of the limited issue Today We’re Believers 10th Anniversary Edition vinyls. With only 500 copies available, the deluxe release includes 2 fruit punch coloured 180g vinyl, a stunning photo collage, and extended liner notes. The deluxe vinyl will be available exclusively at the Birthday Cake online store, the Royal Canoe bandcamp, or their upcoming Winnipeg Anniversary shows. Presale for this item begins on September 3rd.
Originally planning one Winnipeg anniversary show date, on November 23rd, Royal Canoe had to quickly make an additional date, November 22nd, after the show sold out on the day of the ticket release on August 25th. Set to play at The Park Theatre in Winnipeg, MB, Royal Canoe will be playing Today We’re Believers in its entirety, with additional b-sides from the era, and they’ll be joined by some extra special guest performers. The response to the show announcement indicates not just how beloved Royal Canoe remains, but also the importance of the album that launched the band’s career as we know it today.
“During the making of this record, we encountered devastating personal loss, heartbreak, and seemingly insurmountable obstacles. But, if anything, all of those challenges just reinforced how fleeting the feeling was – that for once, we were exactly where we should be. Royal Canoe are also bringing the incredible bonus tracks from the Deluxe Edition, 3 b-sides from the Today We’re Believers era, to all streaming platforms. The 10th Anniversary Edition of the album will be available on all DSPs via Birthday Cake Records on September 27th so that audiences everywhere can reminisce, rediscover, and find something new.

Royal Canoe’s musical journey has taken them around the world and into projects they never dreamed of. They’ve played over 500 shows from Kiev to California, toured with Alt-J and Bombay Bicycle Club and hit major festivals like Bonnaroo, Iceland Airwaves and Osheaga. Their records have received critical acclaim: a nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Junos, winning Best Independent Album at the Western Canadian Music Awards and love from music-press and devoted fans the world over.
