NEW ALBUM OF NYLON STRING GUITAR IMPROVISATIONS FROM BRIAN SUMNER IN SOME WAYS OUT NOW

Sumner has released his fifth album of guitar improvisations on this day Friday, January 3, 2025. Titled In Some Ways and amalgamated from his live improvisations for his Instagram and TikTok pages, In Some Ways is an extension of, and companion album to his previous release – Understood. Sumner’s improvised compositions continue to employ bizarre but coherent harmonic structures and rhythms and demands the listener respect the guitar as a truly capable polyphonic instrument.
The artwork was composed by the brilliant artist Daniela Shmitz whose use of depth and trajectory is spellbinding. The album cover will be released in conjunction with the improvisations as an NFT collection.
Brian Sumner has released four critically acclaimed solo-improvised guitar records over the past two years. All four albums and the related performances achieved significant virility on social media and have aided him in developing a large follower base on all social platforms, as well as encouraging the growth of his Spotify reach to over 8000 monthly listeners and tens of thousand of streams.
Sumner’s training in Classical Guitar (Kwantlen College), Contemporary Guitar (V.C.C.), Jazz Guitar (Capilano College) and 20 years of recording and extensive touring with the art-grunge outfit; The Sumner Brothers have given him the requisite skills, influences and experience to improvise freely without conformity to a specific genre.
