MICAH WILLIS – “APR 4”

Micah Willis returns to his blues roots with “Apr. 4,” a deeply personal new single and the first glimpse into a forthcoming blues album currently in the works. Willis grew up immersed in blues music and performing alongside his father, Kenny Neal, but his own career has taken him through pop, R&B, funk and other contemporary styles. Following their 2025 collaboration “Devil’s in the Delta,” Willis now steps forward with a solo release that brings him back to the music he grew up around while carrying with him the influences he has developed throughout his own career.
The title “Apr. 4” refers to April 4, 2025, a turning point in Willis’ life during a period of substance addiction. After reaching a point where he realized the path he was on could ultimately cost him his life, music became an important part of choosing a different direction. The song captures the fear, isolation and chaos of that period while also representing the process of confronting it, healing and finally beginning to let it go.
Produced by Adrien Baldwin and Chance Clift and recorded at June Audio, “Apr. 4” features Willis on vocals, Adrien Baldwin on guitar and bass, Zane Smith on organ and Matt Wilson on drums. The single marks the beginning of Willis’ next musical chapter as he continues work on his forthcoming blues album.
