LIBBY EMBER – “I KILL SPIDERS”
INDEPENDENT
Montreal’s Libby Ember arrives with her introspective debut EP, I Kill Spiders. Thoughtful, anxious, and emotionally candid, the four-track collection captures the young singer-songwriter’s journey through self-doubt and quiet contemplation. Blending warm indie-pop textures with the raw honesty of indie-folk, the record is a compelling exploration of growth, conscience, and the weight of our smallest actions.
I Kill Spiders moves through questioning, longing, and reflection, creating a cohesive story of emotional honesty. The EP showcases Libby Ember’s signature introspective lyricism while delivering warm, accessible, and intimate production.
I Kill Spiders is a reflection on mindfulness and the seemingly insignificant choices that define us. Libby Ember invites listeners to sit with their thoughts, explore the weight of the tiny moments, and find strength in vulnerability.
ARTIST QUOTE
I wrote this song initially on my own when I was having a hard time understanding why bad things were happening to me. In the fall of 2024, I competed with this song in the Overture With The Arts songwriting competition. Over several sessions, I worked on it with Canadian singer Bayla, who was mentoring the contestants. I ended up winning first place, and the prize was free studio sessions and production by Luca the Producer (Lucas Libertore), who was one of the judges. It was a really cool experience and a great story for this song that I’m really proud of.
