Q052 – “LOUD SUNDAY”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
Award-winning Mi’gmaq rapper, activist, and rising force in radical hip-hop Q052 is back with a powerful new single. Titled “Loud Sunday”, the track is set for release on September 25 via the Musique Nomade imprint, offering a raw and unfiltered preview of his forthcoming full-length album, Thunder Child, due October 10.
Known for electrifying performances and a commanding presence, Q052 has shared the stage with Cypress Hill, appeared regularly on TVA’s La Tour, and performed at festivals including FEQ, FME, Innu Nikamu, Festival Kwe!, and Festival en chanson de Petite-VallĂ©e.
Behind Q052 is Quentin Condo, a proud member of the Gesgapegiag First Nation in GaspĂ©sie, who now resides in Sherbrooke, Canada. His stage name, “Q” for Quentin and “052” representing the number designated to his community, is more than a moniker; it’s a symbol of cultural resilience and Indigenous identity.
Q052’s music is an uncompromising fusion of boom bap rap, grunge, alt-rock, and spoken word, infused with searing lyricism and unflinching social commentary. Inspired by a diverse array of artists including Immortal Technique, Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine, Ty Segall, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Q052 distills this sonic chaos into something uniquely his own, politically charged, and musically daring.
With “Loud Sunday”, Q052 confronts the futility of war and the apathy surrounding global injustice. Layered over sub-heavy basslines, brooding synths, and a haunting melody, the track pulses with urgency. Air horn bursts punctuate the mix, acting like a siren call to consciousness, a demand that we listen and act.
“This song is about the senseless wars that are going on in the world and how society has become so tolerant of the tyrants destroying humanity,” says Q052.
“It’s the kind of track that hits you in the chest — raw, righteous, and impossible to ignore,” says Q052. “I want people to feel something real, something urgent. That’s what this music is for.”
As anticipation builds for Thunder Child, Q052 continues to carve his path as one of the most essential and outspoken voices in Canadian hip-hop.
