JOHN FINLEY 80th BIRTHDAY BASH

Canadian music icon John Finley turned 80 yesterday and wanted to share the news and his music with the people of Toronto. Finley’s career spans over 6 decades as a singer/songwriter and performer of R&B, jazz, blues, gospel and popular music in Los Angeles and Toronto.
The birthday celebration was held at Lula Lounge this week with more than 200 people in attendance. Finley was in top form throughout his performance as he sang and danced for a full hour and a half. His vocals were masterfully backed by the Soul City All-Star Orkestra featuring Danny Weis, Lou Pomanti, Bill King, Jono Grant, Ben Wittman, Alison Young, Simon Wallis, Howard Moore, Yvette Tollar, Shameema Soni and Tyrone Whyte.
Listeners were delighted from start to finish with Finley’s extraordinary soulful style of singing. His dynamic vocals combined beautifully with a stylish collection of songs featuring elements of soul, jazz and world class music. It was an absolutely great night of entertainment with so much talent in one room.
