ELECTRIC ISLAND 2019 PREVIEW
HANLAN’S POINT, TORONTO ISLAND | MAY 19 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2019
Canada’s number one open air concert + picnic series across Canada, Electric Island, kicks off its seventh season on May 19, 2019. Heavyweight DJs Dubfire, Âme, Bedouin and the fabulous Women on Wax founder DJ Minx will headline the festival’s main stage with Toronto favourites, Jonathan Rosa and Carerra & Tavares offering opening support. The Moog Audio Stage will host a very special showcase care of Canadian record label Rawthentic, featuring Carlo Lio B2B with Nathan Barato, DJ Sneak, DJ Deeon and Caleb Calloway. This is a strong homegrown lineup!
Since its early suggestion on Sugar Beach eight years ago, Electric Island has blossomed into another successful venture by the team of organizers (Coda, Embrace, and Platform). Even with the epic flooding of the Island in 2017, the festival persevered with Ritchie Hawtin headlining the Canada Day show. How fitting! Electric Island’s seventh season will continue to showcase renowned international artists on Toronto Island’s picturesque Hanlan’s Point throughout the summer. And the greening initiatives Electric Island promotes with waste reduction is a definite thumbs up.
If you can’t make the awesome season opener, be sure to get your tickets for Saturday, June 22 where Blond:ish, DJ Harvey, Seth Troxler will be headlining on the main stage. August 10 and a two-day festival season finale Saturday August 31 – September 1 will be featuring banger headliners: Adriatique, Azari, Anja Schneider, Borid Brejcha, Chris Leiing, Dirtybird founder Claude Vonstroke, DJ Seinfeld, Dusky, Francesca Lombardo, George Fitzgerald, Greg Gow, Hot Since 82, Joris Voorn, Lee Foss, Nitin, Tom Stephan along with two very special live sets by Argentina’s Guti and French Canada’s Marie Davidson.
Some early bird season passes are still available. And remember: festival veterans always arrive for two pm to miss the ferry masses.
See you on the island!
