WILDER MAKER
THE STREETS LIKE BEDS STILL WARM
WESTERN VINYL

Brooklyn’s Gabriel Birnbaum seems to be all over the place these days, either as a music curator/PR man, solo artist, or as a member/principal songwriter of dark, jazzed-up folk of Wilder Maker, a band that has been around for a while with their not so easy to define sound that ranges from dark folk to jazzed-up quirks that Tom Waits does so well.
Now, the band that has had a consistent lineup for a decade now which includes Adam Brisbin, Nick Jost, Sean Mullins, and Birnbaum, as well as perennial collaborator Katie Von Schleicher, along with some excellent friends like Joseph Shabason, Will Shore, and Cole Kamen-Green has come up with another delicate concoction of a sound on their latest, aptly titled album The Streets Like Beds Still Warm.
And it is all there—slow-evolving grooves, hushed vocals, Birnbaum’s complex songwriting and some equally detailed arrangements that swerve into some unknown directions. Folky jazz noir anyone?
