GODSPEED – A TRIBUTE TO PIERRE KEZDY
BIG MINNOW RECORDS
If you love the sound of punk rock that blasts your eardrums with raw energy and emotion, you will love Godspeed: A Tribute to Pierre Kezdy. This album is a homage to the legendary bassist of Naked Raygun, Pierre Kezdy, who died of cancer in 2020.
This album features 14 bands covering some of the most iconic songs by Naked Raygun. Immediately the listener is transported to a bygone era when music was authentic. The Usuals’ effortless cover of “Soldiers Requiem” from Naked Raygun’s Jettison is a fitting honour, whilst The Death Of Memphis perfectly captures the spirit and style of the 80s punk scene through their cover of “Treason” from Naked Raygun’s Understand?
Classics like “Rat Patrol” and “Home of the Brave”, covered by The Turdles and Stress Dreams, respectively, make their way to the album celebrating the rebellion and anti-establishment that is punk rock. Easily the most inspiring is the closing track, “Walk In Cold” by The Brokedowns; Kris Megyery’s vocals elicit an emotional response, a connection to the enduring impact and relevance that Naked Raygun, particularly Pierre Kezdy, has had on a generation and hopefully generations to come.
